I hope you all had a nice weekend? Mine was a working one spent catching up on emails, admin and writing blog posts - the less glamorous side to it all but still enjoyable all the same.
On Friday I was invited into Pello Hair design to have my colour and cut done and I was very much looking forward to a few hours of me time. We all have busy lives and I think it is really important to make time for yourself every now and then when you can. So, when Friday at 1pm came around, I was more than delighted!
Pello is located in Letterkenny Shopping Centre just beside Penney's - dangerous combo! I came out after having my hair done and said I would go in for a "look" - came out 10 mins later with a dress! In my defence, it was reduced to €7 so in reality, I made a profit! (Or so I tell myself anyway)
It was around 6 months since I last had my hair cut and coloured (any hairdressers reading this are probably hyperventilating) so it was definitely time to get something done! I was very tempted to get my fringe back but couldn't make up my mind and decided to stick with my trusted look I always opt for - smooth, sleek and blunt to channel my inner Kim Kardashian!
One of the main things I wanted to get right was my colour. As it had been so long since I last had it done, it was very faded and I wanted to add a bit of vibrancy and life back into it. I'm naturally dark so always go 1-2 shades darker to make sure I get the longevity I need.
Pello specialise in colour and use all Aveda products. They are exclusive stockists in Donegal and as it is a brand I had not tried before, I was looking forward to seeing how my hair took to it. What I didn't know is that all of the products are 96% organic and also not tested on animals which is great.
I would normally get a semi-permanent colour as I always thought a permanent colour would be too harsh. So, when I heard it would be a permanent colour they would be using I did worry but was reassured that because the Aveda colour formulas protect the hair during the processing and actually make your hair not only healthier but shinier, I was sold!
Your hair is one of the first things people notice about you and of course we have to look after it. I had met my Auntie after I came out of the hairdressers and one of the first things she said to me was that my hair looked so healthy and shiny and it also felt like that so I was delighted! Sara who was my stylist used the Colour Conserve shampoo and conditioner which prevents the colour fading and one thing I have to mention before I forget is that the products smell incredible!
I work with the Letterkenny Shopping Centre on a regular basis and they kindly gifted me with 2 products - the Dry Remedy Moisturising Shampoo and the Smooth Infusion Moisturising Styling Creme. My mum and sister definitely love (and take advantage of AHEM) this part to my job!
I thought it would be a good idea to get my mum to try them first as her hair would be very dry and coarse from many years of colouring it blonde. I told her that she had to give me her honest opinion as I have to give a verdict on the products - she opened the bathroom door and said "They are amazing!" I said "really?!" Not doubting the products but more so surprised at her reaction as she would be very fussy when it comes to hair care.
My mum's hair would be naturally curly and very hard to comb after washing and this was the first time she was able to glide the brush through without using any conditioner as an aid to smoothing it out. So, it's safe to say she was impressed! My sister then blow dried her hair and we all instantly noticed a difference in that it was extremely smooth and shiny so thumbs up all round from the Murray gals!
All in all, I had a lovely experience and would like to thank Tina, Patrick and the team for looking after me so well.
