NYX lipstick review NO.511

Hi everyone!

So this is my first beauty post and I decided to kick start it by doing a review on this NYX lipstick that I have been using religiously over the last number of weeks.  I am a big fan of lipsticks and love trying out new ones, especially red ones! I think it is hard to go wrong with a classic red lip and nude eye.

This one from NYX is no 511 and it is ahmazing! I don't know how many red lipsticks I have tried over the last while, but this one is my favourite to date.  It is very moisturising on the lips so you don't get that chapped sort of look that you might with others, and more importantly it stays put the whole day so you don't need to top it up every hour or so.  (A little tip for making sure your lipstick endures the whole day is to pop a bit of foundation on your lips before you put it on) :) It is a lovely shade of deep red so will cater to a lot of skin tones and it retails at €5.49 so it is hard to go wrong with a price like that, especially when it's such a good lipstick!

I have a few other lipsticks from the NYX brand that I have bought and also love, so I will do a review on them soon.  I have been focusing a lot on the fashion end of my blog over the last few weeks since I started it, so I definitely want to get stuck into the beauty end of it now too.

I hope this review was of help to any of you that love a red lipstick, I would love to know what other red lipsticks you are all a fan of? Remember that if you ever don't have time to put any make-up on, slick on some lippie and you are good to go ;)

A big red lippie kiss from me,

Emma

Colour Clash - Lime green and pink

Hi Guys and Dolls,

How was everyone's weekend? I boldly didn't stick to my "Not going out in January" rule as I ended up heading out on Friday Night, but we are here for a good time, not a long time, yes?!

I am a weeee bit late on putting this outfit post up, but sure better late than never :) I had an outfit prepared the night before and I loved it, but when I woke up in the morning and looked outside to see some snow, I knew it wasn't going to work, another time though! So, instead I opted for a colour clash that I adore, lime green and fushcia pink! I think the two colours blend in really well together and it's a nice start to the summer wardrobe.

Lime green cardi & Michael Kors Scarf

Hi all,

I had a few people asking about my lime green cardigan and scarf that I was wearing on Monday, so I decided to do a brief post on it.

As I have said before, I lurveee lime green so automatically fell in love with this long knit cardigan when I first saw it. It is from DV8 and also came in a really cool fuschia pink colour, but unfortunately it has sold out. If I had to choose between the two, I would still go with the green hands down :) It is so cosy and the perfect throwover with jeans, dresses, trousers etc. I have posted the link for the lime green version below the picture.

Finding the scarf in TK Maxx was one of those moments where I went "OMG!", probably a little louder than I should have in public, I just thought the black and white was so striking, and it was my very first Michael Kors purchase so it was a special moment haha. When I first tried it on I thought I resembled someone that was off to a football match, but that certainly didn't affect my decision in the end up, obviously! There was only one in stock that day as I know that seems to be the way TK Maxx work with their stock, but it is still worth heading in and having a look around at some of the others on offer as they do some lovely Moschino scarves too.

Happy Thursday everyone,

Emma x

Wearing the suit out of the office - Saturday Night's outfit

Hi everyone,

I hope you are all having a splendid week! :) I thought I would do a quick outfit post on what I wore Saturday night past. My sister and myself went for a few cocktails to Mc Gettigan's bar, but the night had to come to a halt when it started snowing, and we didn't want to end up stranded at 4am haha! It was still a fun night all the same, and I think any night out is what you make it, and also the company you are in :)

I decided after about 100 outfit changes to wear this two piece Navy and Black suit with leather detailing from Penney's. I had been looking for a suit for ages, but I wanted one that I knew I could add a sort of edgy twist to.  I wore it with this 'Tres En Vogue' t-shirt from River Island, and my favourite Valentino inspired heels from Dunnes. It wasn't very clear in the picture, but my clutch had a hint of lime green in it as I wanted to brighten the outfit up a bit. The suit is very comfortable and the jacket and trousers could even be worn as separates which is always a bonus :)

I know a lot of you more than likely wear a suit 5 days a week, and the thought of wearing one outside of the office wouldn't cross your mind.  However, if you choose a style similar to the one I have bought, especially one with a fitted trouser, you could wear it Saturday shopping, Saturday night, Friday night drinks, whatever you prefer.

The key to making it that bit different/edgier is:

1. Make sure you don't wear a blouse you would wear to the office
2. Pair it with a statement t-shirt
3. Adding some statement jewellery is key, ie a large necklace, wrist cuff, glam earrings etc
4. It may seem obvious, but NO crocs ;)
5. CONFIDENCE :) :)

So, that is it for another post, I hope you all got a little inspiration as to how to re-work your suit, and now realise that it doesn't just have to be worn from 9-5 in an office environment. I have a good few posts to get caught up n now over the next few days so stay posted :)

Love,

Emma x

Saturday's OOTD

Hola everyone !

Hope everyone has had a nice weekend, despite the wind, rain, hail, sleet, snow etc!:( I don't know about anyone else, but I am definitely looking forward to Summer at this stage!

On Saturday my mum and myself went for a brief stroll into town, and I wore this navy check shirt dress, grey thigh high boots and my favourite burgundy coat, all from Penney's finest.  It was particularly cold that day so I wore a fedora hat for extra warmth, and it was from River Island.  Have any of you bought one yet? I hope so ;) The grey studded handbag is another favourite of mine, and one that I use quite a lot as it seems to match everything, the only downside is that it is a bit small, but I can cope with that as it means I only bring the essentials with me then.

Over the next week or so, I hope to write a post based on how to wear the shirt dress, just like the one I have on me below.  They can be a bit of a torture to know what to put with them, how to style them etc so I will do my best to help :)  Saturday night's outfit will also be live on the blog in the coming week, so keep an eye out for that too :)

That is all from me for now, and as always I hope you enjoyed the post.  I keep forgetting to mention that if anyone has any questions for me, or if you have something you would like me to cover, then comment below or drop me an email @ emgem250@gmail.com (I know, such a mature address haha!)

Working the Pattern Clash

Hi everyone,

Today's post is based on a topic that I LOVE...Pattern Clashing! :) :) Now, when I am styling a customer at work and I ask them if they would be interested in opting for a pattern clash, I get the same reaction that I would if I asked them to run around the store in their underwear haha. I understand that it isn't a look everyone will be that fond of, but for those who are curious, this post will give you a few tips and tricks as to how you can ROCK it!

1 . Don't be afraid

First off, this look is all about having the nerve to wear it, and why shouldn't you?! Fashion has a lot of trends embedded in it, but style is all about what you do with them. What it boils down to is experimenting and deciding if you want to go for a full on outfit that is pattern clashing, or maybe you would prefer to just work with accessories such as shoes, a handbag or a scarf. When I first wore a pattern clash, (I'll not lie), I caught sight of myself in the mirror at work and thought, seriously Emma what are you doing?! Whenever you wear something that you aren't used to, i.e. stepping out of your comfort zone, it does take a bit of time to get used to, but sooner or later you will find what works for you, and you can base your outfit around that. Have I convinced anyone yet?

2 . Leopard print and pattern

No matter what print your outfit is if you are going for the pattern clash look, you can be guaranteed that leopard print will go with it. A great example in the picture below shows how you can achieve the trend by simply using a scarf and shoes and it's a great alternative for those that do not want to wear a complete outfit that is clashing. Another option as I have mentioned, is perhaps your handbag and shoes will clash, or your scarf and handbag, at the end of the day, it is all up to you ! :)  The more patterns the better ;)

3 . Stripes and Floral

This is a combo that if you say it out loud sounds hideous, but when you see it on realise yeah, it is actually really nice. It is a look you CAN wear in winter as long as appropriate footwear and jacket is worn. The picture below is one that I found on Pinterest, and I think it is great inspo if you are thinking on putting together a similar outfit. The tanned bag brings out the hints of orange in the skirt and then the rest of the outfit does the talking. A little tip and one that I use to ensure my outfit comes together, is picking a colour that is in your pattern clash and basing the heels and handbag around that. In this way there is some co-ordination and it emphasises a particular colour in your outfit.

4 . Check and Floral

The outfit pictured below is a pattern clash I did last summer with a check and floral print. I wanted to bring out the white in the skirt, so I matched it with white shoes and a white bag, and there was also a bit of white in my shirt too. I think this was the first time I experimented with a pattern clash, and I haven't look back since ;) (Despite my freak out in the mirror that day)

5. Polka dot and Pattern

I am a big fan of polka dot, I think it is a very girly pattern. It is yet another print that can be used in a pattern clash, as seen in the picture below. Just as I previously mentioned, there is a focus on one colour from the outfit, and that is the yellow which is brought out by her shoes. I am not really sure what pattern category her skirt falls into haha, but either way it is another example of a well put together look that combines originality and colour. A particularly nice combo for a night out with the girls.

Picture: Pinterest

Below is a picture of a pattern clash that I did a while back based around polka dots. I think that blue and pink bounce off each other quite well, so that is why I went for these trousers to go with it. Again, I wanted to bring out the white in the shirt, so I wore my trusty white sandals, and added a black waist belt to bring out the black in the trousers.

SO, there you have it, my tips and tricks to working the pattern clash. I hope that you all took some inspiration from it, and will try out the trend for yourselves. I have given examples of only a few patterns that work together, but as the trend is all about clashing, wear whatever patterns you feel go together, and don't forget the most important accessory, CONFIDENCE! I have a few spare tickets for the pattern clash train if anyone has now changed their minds and wants to hop on?! (That was a really cringy joke wasn't it).

Stay stylish,

Emma x

In saying all that, lets get started ! :)

A Blue and Black OOTD

Hi Everyone,

Hope you all had a lovely weekend, I think everyone will agree that it always goes in far too fast!? This post will be based around this outfit that I posted to my Facebook and wore to work today in DV8.  As I said, I wouldn't be the biggest fan of blue and black paired together, but its all about what you wear it with so that it works for you :)

The shirt is by far one of my favourites, it is brand AX Paris and I think it has a sort of vintage look to it. I love the mustard and blue colours running through it and most importantly it is so comfy because of the silk material, so its a winner all round :)  It is a very big fitting, so for anyone looking to buy it I would definitely recommend going a size down.  We have a few left in our store in Letterkenny, but they are also online retailing at about €30 and I will post the link down below. Although I have paired it with the leather leggings, it could also be worn with black jeans or a pencil skirt such as the mustard leather one pictured below, also from DV8.  I have this skirt myself and LOVE it with the shirt, the colours blend in so well together.

You can never go wrong with a pair of leather leggings, they go with nearly everything and do suit a wide variety of ages, as long as they are put together with the right key items.  I will be doing a post in the next few days on the key items that you should have in your wardrobe so stay tuned! These leggings unfortunately are not in stock anymore, but I have posted a link to another pair from Topshop that would do the trick.

The colour of the handbag from the Savida range in Dunnes Stores was what drew me to it and it wasn't all that expensive at €30.  If like me, you tend to pack the kitchen sink into your handbag then this one is ideal as it is very roomy so it will fit all your bits and bobs :)  Savida have an amazing range of clothes that it's almost impossible to walk past it without seeing something lovely! Or maybe its just because I have a problem with buying clothes?! Either way it is still a beautiful range!

So that is all from me for the mean time I hope you all enjoyed the post and don't forget to like my Facebook page 'The Fashion Chair' to keep up to date with all my recent posts, and also for competitions that I will be running in the next few weeks.

Until next time,

Emma x .

River Island Sale Favourites

Hello lovelies,

So it is Thursday and that means it is nearly the weekend whoohoo! Has anyone got any exciting plans? I have had my fair share of partying and boogying over Christmas and the New Year, so I am looking forward to having a quiet one, especially with 2 days off work yayy :)

Anyway down to business.  I think everyone knows that the River Island sale is one of the best around, and seeing as I didn't get a trip into the store itself, I went online and unfortunately, bought one too many things haha. I wanted to base this post around two of my favourite items that I had purchased, and they are the beige check midi coat and lime green maxi pictured below.

I have bought on the River Island website before, but I think I got the most excited about this package coming in the post, it felt like Christmas all over again! The coat was reduced from £110 to £55, and the dress was £60 down to £25, so bargains all round, or so I try to convince myself! I love love lime green as a colour, but I especially love the back of the dress, I think that is what really makes it so I will keep that wee number for the summer, and hopefully I will have somewhere glam to go by then!

I have posted the link for the coat and dress if anyone is feeling in the shopping mood! ;) Have a great weekend everyone,

Love

My First Blog Post Eeek!

Hey everyone :)

So, where to begin?! Well, I had been thinking about the idea of setting up a blog for quite a while now, and as I wrote down my goals today for 2015, I thought there is no time like the present so just go for it! I am a bit apprehensive I won't lie, but I have always believed that your desire to succeed should be greater than your fear of failure  :) I am a self confessed fashaholic (if that's even a word?!) so my blog will be covering all things fashion related, as well as aspects of beauty and lifestyle.  I hope to have my next post done in the coming days, so if you think you would like a read of it, then do come back :)

Until then,

Emma x
